From among Bachis students, it was Krebs who continued the Baroque tradition most convincingly, even as he incorporated elements of the galant and empfindsam styles, which were making ever stronger inroads into the music of the mid 18th century. But in spite of the recognition and praise heaped upon Krebs, many of his works remained forgotten until the publication of the Complete Edition.
