Ballet héroïque in one act. Composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau. Edited by Jonathan Huw Williams. This edition: complete edition, urtext edition. Linen. Opera Omnia OOR IV.25. Complete edition, Score. Duration 45 minutes. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA08851. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA08851).ISBN 9790006525904. 33.8 x 25.7 cm inches. Louis de Cahusac.
This attractive one-act ballet, premièred at the theater in Fontainebleau in 1754, has never appeared in print, and the incomplete source material made it necessary to attempt a painstaking scholarly reconstruction. As always, Rameau presents a series of brilliant and challenging ariettas, choruses and dance numbers.
Our edition allows performers at last to appreciate the remarkable quality of this music.
